Masters of Merlot: Four Experts Reveal All
They are Masters of Merlot: experts that can coax complexity and persistence out of the noble grape of Merlot. Aromas of steeped plum and blackberries. Hints of bay leaf, cocoa, perhaps river rocks. Cashmere-caliber texture. At its best, Merlot can be all of these – and it also perfect for autumn and the savory foods with associate with it,.
On October 25th, Mark Oldman hosts four California-based Masters of Merlot: St. Supery’s Michael Scholz, Grgich Hills’ Ivo Jeremaz, McIntyre Vineyards’ Steve McIntyre, and J.Lohrs’ Steve Peck.
This is going to be a fascinating, insider exploration of what to look for in the best Merlot. They will discuss the best places for Merlot, as well as personal reflections on the grape’s ageability, peak food pairings, emerging trends, and personal stories with this glorious but often misunderstood grape.
Bring your own Merlot, or taste along with the wines that Mark and the winemakers will be drinking and discussing (though this is not a prerequisite). See below for the list of wines – vintages and a link to Wine.com will be posted here soon.
This event is in partnership with October Merlot Month: www.MerlotMe.com #MerlotMe.
